The Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) is a professional membership association bringing together all Quantity Surveyors in Kenya. The Institute is the
foremost body in matters dealing with Quantity Surveying in this country and we now  boast of a membership of over one thousand (1000) members.

The Institute wishes to fill the following position

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Job Purpose The primary role of the Executive Officer is to implement the Secretariat programs and manage personnel and resources so that effective leadership and administrative support is provided to initiatives of the IQSK. The job ensures that the programmes designated to the Secretariat are implemented in an effective manner.
The position is the focal point of the Secretariat.
Key duties and responsibilities

  1. a) Coordinate the effective implementation of all IQSK scheduled calendar of activities.
    b) Launch and coordinate special projects mandated by the Council in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
    c) Manage the resources of the Secretariat by establishing appropriate control and supervision procedures to ensure staffing, equipment and finances are used effectively in support of IQSK aims and objectives.
    d) Serve as the liaison to Council Committees by advising, attending meetings and preparing reports as

e) Report to the Executive Committee of IQSK as required, monitor expenditure and arrange for
preparation of annual accounts covering all expenditure of the Secretariat.

  • f) Prepare background briefing papers, give advice to staff and present relevant data analyses to support the work of IQSK.
    g) Work closely with the Secretariat team in establishing and developing an effective service delivery system for members and other stakeholders.
    h) Manage all communication and requests with members and other stakeholders upholding and
    protecting the high regard the IQSK brand has in society.
    i) Manage accountability in the Secretariat by ensuring adequate controls for information and communication flow, protecting the best interest of the IQSK and her stakeholders.
    j) Maintain high level contacts with appropriate partner institutions, the government and other agencies to facilitate consultation and cooperation on all matters pertaining to the objectives of the IQSK

 

Academic Qualifications

  • Hold university degree, preferably at post-graduate level, in management, administration, law, economics or any other fields related to the construction industry

Essential Knowledge and experience

  • Have at least 5 years experience in a professional field with a proven track record.
    · Demonstrate very good knowledge of the construction sector and in the implementation of institutional
    programmes;
    · Have established leadership skills and the ability to exercise a high degree of professional initiative,
    including communication with stakeholders;
    · Be conversant with the management of financial, human and other institutional resources and the
    organization of high profile meetings.
    · Possess good management and communication skills
    · Possess good computer skills.

Professional Affiliation

  • Any professional body related to the position and available in Kenya or international.

ASSISTANT MARKETING EXECUTIVE

ASSISTANT MARKETING EXECUTIVE
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The main duty is sourcing for advertisements and placement in the Institute’s official journal, The Quantity Surveyor. This will include liaising with the Editor,
writing and proofreading advertisements, liaising with designers and printers

2. Sourcing and securing sponsorship for the Institute’s activities such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions
3. Managing of marketing materials, including leaflets, posters, flyers, newsletters, e-newsletters and DVDs

4. Contributing to, and developing, marketing plans and strategies and identifying marketing opportunities
5. Organizing and overseeing the Institute’s events such as conferences, seminars,receptions and exhibitions

Qualifications:
1. A minimum academic qualification of a Diploma in Marketing or a related field
2. At least 3 years experience in a similar role
3. An understanding of the construction industry is preferred
4. Be energetic and result-oriented
